Introduction to Impact Course #1

21 February 2023 | 8:00 am 5:00 pm

Due to take place on:

  • Thursday 12th January 2023, 3:00pm-4:30pm (Session 1)
  • Thursday 19th January 2023, 3:00pm-4:30pm (Session 2)

Ever wondered what the difference is between impact measurement and impact management? Or what the term ‘impact measurement tool’ means?

This course will help you begin to navigate impact measurement and work towards an approach that works for your organization, the people you support and the people who support you.

Creating real, lasting change in your community is probably why you set up your small charity or social enterprise in the first place. We want to help you to define your impact and collect data that has tangible benefits for your organization.

This course will provide you with an overview and understanding of what impact means and how impact measurement can be used to help you better communicate what your organization does to donors, grant funders, partners, trustees, media and staff.

The course is split into two sessions:

Understanding Impact & Impact Measurement

  • What is impact?
  • Why measure impact?
  • How do you measure impact?

Monitoring & Evaluation – Explained

  • M&E – Explained
  • How to use M&E data
  • Collecting data

Who is this course for?

This course will benefit any organization that is at the beginning of understanding and identifying the impact of its services on beneficiaries and is planning to begin measuring impact. The session is designed for organisations that are seeking to understand how to start measuring impact in a meaningful way which will help demonstrate results to partners, funders, stakeholders, clients and other audiences.

It may be best suited to organisations that have been established for 3 years or less, or those that are at the early stages of working on developing and embedding impact measurement in their operations and service delivery.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the what, why and how of measuring impact.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how measuring impact can benefit a small charity or social enterprise.
  • Have an overview of how an impact measurement system works.
  • Understand what Monitoring & Evaluation is and how it can be embedded into your organisation’s programmes, systems and processes.

We do ask for a £10 deposit, but this will be fully refunded upon attendance.

The course is led by Maria Tarokh online via Zoom and spaces are limited per session. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
