Trusteeship with GenEarth CIC

Backed by The Fore

Organisation Description

GenEarth exists to equip every young person with the critical thinking skills, agency and confidence to navigate an increasingly complex future in the face of the climate and nature crisis. Founded in the wake of the 2019 school climate strikes, we’ve worked with over 42,000 young people nationally through action led programmes delivered in schools and community settings. Our programmes explore the issues most closely connected to the climate crisis, from media literacy and social injustice to nature depletion and animal welfare, helping young people make sense of the connections between these issues and realise their ability to make a difference.

What are they looking for?

GenEarth is at an important stage of growth – currently converting from a non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and we are building a board with the collective skills to provide good governance alongside the expertise to diversify and grow our income.

As a member of the Board, all Trustees share collective responsibility for GenEarth’s governance, ensuring the organisation operates in line with its purposes, values and legal obligations. In addition to the general trustee duties, this role carries a particular focus on providing strategic oversight, expertise and connections that strengthen GenEarth’s fundraising – with an emphasis on trusts and foundations, philanthropic giving and donor cultivation.

Key areas of support:

1. Strategic fundraising counsel Provide expert, fundraising-informed input on the organisation’s development – helping shape direction and decisions with a fundraiser’s perspective at the table.

2. Tactical problem-solving and opportunity development Act as a hands-on sounding board, and helping the team unlock new opportunities and work through specific fundraising challenges as they arise.

3. Sector intelligence and landscape insight Keep the organisation informed on shifts, trends, and developments in the fundraising landscape that could affect strategy or approach.
