Electric Storm Youth Limited Request

Organisation Description

Founded in 2007, Electric Storm Youth (ESY) is a youth work charity based in Lancing, West Sussex. We run a full range of youth-based programmes, including young carers support, mental health counselling, general youth sessions and street-based (detached) youth work, mentoring and work-experience.

Our main challenge is the increasing demand for our services, especially from the more marginalised groups such as young carers and those with mental health problems.

We currently support around 200 young people by working to improve their personal and social development, teaching them new skills, and improving the quality of their lives.

What are they looking for?

We are seeking to enhance the wide range of skills that the current Board of Trustees already has.

We are specifically (but not exclusively) looking for individuals who have expertise in any of the following areas:

• Youth sector/supporting young people.
• Mental health/counselling
• LBGTQ+ support
• Safeguarding
• Retail sector
• Education (school years 7 to 13)
• Current experience as a recipient of a youth service
• Organisational transformation

Personal qualities

• Strongly sympathetic with the vision and purpose of Electric Storm Youth, as well as with the challenges facing our beneficiaries.
• Confident and engaging
• Motivated to work collaboratively with the other Trustees, staff, and stakeholders of the Charity.

We hold face to face trustee meetings once a month (with the exception of August and December. Zoom can also be considered.
