The Old Hospital (Southwold)
Description
The Old Hospital (Southwold) tackle social isolation by bringing people together in a coastal community facing deprivation and a rapidly aging population.
In 2017, The Old Hospital saved their Victorian community hospital, transforming it into a community café, outdoor learning academy and a library, while also housing initiatives like pay what you can meals. They also provide nine affordable homes. They now have the opportunity to repurpose a space into a Community Fitness Centre. They have the equipment and a volunteer team, but they don’t have the funds to bring someone in to run it.
With The Fore’s support, they will recruit a Community Fitness Manager to oversee the centre. The centre will unlock significant income, allowing them to expand their services and deepen their impact across the region.
