Forests With Impact CIC
Description
Forests With Impact (FWI) grow UK-native trees on prison land, creating pathways into employment for people in prison while supporting woodland creation and biodiversity.
FWI’s commercial tree nurseries have grown 700,000 saplings to date, with prison-based growing teams trained by leading experts. Trees are grown to high biosecurity standards, reducing dependence on imported stock while giving participants technical skills, mentoring and work experience. Demand from prisons is growing, but FWI lacks the dedicated capacity and equipment to expand.
With The Fore’s funding, FWI will recruit a National Tree Nursery Development Manager and invest in reusable growing equipment. FWI will replicate their prison-based tree nursery model in new locations, establish more growing teams and plant more trees.
