Trusteeship with FarmAbility

Backed by The Fore

Organisation Description

FarmAbility is based in Oxfordshire and we support over 70 people, each week, year round, on open-ended Occupational Therapy informed day services in the outdoors. We believe in a society where people with a learning disability are independent, active and connected members of their community, experiencing fulfilled lives where their contribution is recognised and valued. We're here to create opportunities for people with learning disabilities on farms, outdoor spaces and in nature. We work together - building confidence, skills and connection through meaningful, practical activity programmes. We aim to show the value and impact of our work through collaboration with partners and sharing of good practice.

What are they looking for?

The most important attributes of a Trustee for us is a belief in what we are doing and an enthusiasm and commitment to help us do it.

We are recruiting to the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees to replace our current Chair, Roz Warren, who is retiring after serving the maximum time in the role. This is a particularly exciting time to join FarmAbility. We have grown substantially in the last few years and the need for our service is demonstrated by high demand for co-farmer places and the recent opening of our sixth site, our ability to raise funds and our relationship with statutory bodies. We are proud of what we offer and our governance.
The time and dates of our four annual Trustees’ meetings are fixed by mutual agreement a year in advance. There are also occasional ad hoc meetings as the need arises (usually by Zoom when this happens), some time from each of us devoted to our oversight area and, the occasional social event – joyful opportunities to meet and spend time with our co-farmers, their families and the FarmAbility team.

We would be particularly interested in hearing from people who hold/have held leadership positions either in the voluntary or commercial sector.
