The Orwell Foundation exists to perpetuate and protect the legacy of George Orwell, by connecting his work with the broadest possible public audience and by nurturing the writers and reporters who in a contemporary context share his values of bravery, integrity, and fidelity to truth: both those working today and in the next generation.
What are they looking for?
We are currently looking for two new trustees. We are actively looking to diversify the range of voices and life experience on our Board. Successful applicants will bring wisdom and energy and we are specifically seeking people with interest and experience in fundraising, income generation or philanthropy.
We are always seeking to reinforce the authority of the Foundation by using the wide expertise and reach of our Trustees. Applicants may therefore also bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Fundraising, income generation or philanthropy; Literary and historical understanding; Journalism/ Communications/Media/PR/ Social Media
Education; Data/Information Systems; Crisis management; International affairs; Legal; Financial
Trustees will attend, either in person or virtually, four two-hour Board meetings a year and relevant sub-committee meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of Board meetings a year is a minimum requirement.
