Stitches in time / FabricWorks Request (Portfolio)

Organisation Description

Stitches in Time is a participatory arts and education charity in Tower Hamlets. Set up in 1993 as a community project aimed at celebrating the area’s rich cultural heritage, our creative projects are co-designed with users in response to their needs, to empower individuals and build strong, inclusive, and cohesive communities.

FabricWorks is a women-led social enterprise and leading ethical clothing & textile manufacturer. We create high-quality commissions whilst creating training and employment opportunities, at a living wage.We produce new and mend old garments, homeware and textile items based in our East London studio.FabricWorks began as a conversation between our charity’s beneficiaries, many had incredible heritage sewing skills and desired formal training and user-orientated, inclusive work that supported their livelihood. Our solution was to match the growing need for regenerative local production with a focus on sustainable methods and employment practice, whilst addressing the multiple disadvantages of women in the community.

What are they looking for?

We are seeking pro bono support to help grow our FabricWorks sewing enterprise. Specifically, we are looking for assistance with business development to scale our operations, guidance on pitching to large brands, or expertise in reviewing our cost structures and improving our ways of working. Any support in these areas would be invaluable in helping us expand and strengthen our enterprise.
