St Jude’s Church – The Village Centre Request

Organisation Description

The Village Centre is a Methodist Church located on Victoria Street in Englefield Green. and is the outreach programme for St Jude’s United Church (charity no 1169401).
In 2010 it was converted from an operational Church into a community building. We
pride ourselves in being an integral part of the Englefield Green community and
endeavour to offer as many community services as possible. Our community cafe is the heartbeat of the Village Centre with a warm welcome.

We have three main outreach programmes:
Englefield Green Child Contact Centre – The Centre provides facilities for children to
meet with the parent with whom they no longer live due to family break-down.

Baby Basics project – Baby Basics provides the basics needed in life for vulnerable
women or families with a newborn.

Village Centre Community Fridge & Kitchen – Providing access to food and meals is the
priority for our Community Fridge

What are they looking for?

This is an in person role, although a lot of the work can be completed from home. We have regular management meetings, where the treasurer would be present and discussing the finances of the Village Centre.

Duties include:

- help ensure that robust and effective financial controls are in place
- help prepare the charity’s annual budget
report on financial matters to the other trustees and charity’s members
- assist with planning for the future as we look to grow
- Dealing with Gift Aid payments
- Banking as and when necessary
- Working closely with the honorary treasurer at St Jude’s Church with whom
we share a charity number.
