SiMY Community Development Request (Applicant)
Organisation Description
For 25 years, SiMY has empowered 8-18-year-olds and their families to overcome barriers and achieve their aspirations. Rooted in the rich diversity of our community, we tackle the challenges of poverty through activities that inspire wellbeing, confidence, social skills, and a sense of agency. Our youth-led, participatory approach enables young people to grow from participants to leaders. With programs like weekly youth groups, outdoor adventures, holiday activities, and leadership training, we create lasting impact. At our Lister Street site, we also support families with community gardening and events, fostering stronger connections and promoting the proven benefits of time in nature.
What are they looking for?
We seek transformational volunteers on our board to help SiMY with business and strategy planning and finance to diversify our revenue streams. Currently reliant on grants and small donations, we aim to transition toward sustainable, diverse income sources, including commercial ventures, as outlined by GCVS’s guidance and Robertson Trust research for sustainability in charity growth.
