SHRUB Cooperative Request

Organisation Description
Our organisation works to build a zero waste Edinburgh by promoting reuse, repair, and upcycling. We provide education and hands-on training to share practical skills that reduce consumption and improve resource use. As a community cooperative, we are grounded in values of equality, sustainability, and collective action. We empower people to take part in creative, local solutions to environmental challenges and offer a welcoming space for learning, collaboration, and innovation. Through inclusive participation, we help shape a circular economy that benefits both people and the planet.
What are they looking for?
We are looking for a new trustee to join our Board, ideally someone with experience in charity finance or HR to help guide the growth and resilience of our cooperative. We are looking for value strategic input on budgeting, financial oversight, and sustainable organisational development.
The Board meets every 2-4 weeks, either virtually or in person in Edinburgh. Trustees are also encouraged to contribute to working groups or provide ad-hoc support aligned with their expertise, averaging 6 -10 hours per month.
The ideal candidate shares our commitment to sustainability, equality, and cooperative values. Prior board experience is welcome but not essential - what matters most is your ability to provide sound judgement, a collaborative approach, and a willingness to support a mission-driven team.
Training and induction will be provided to ensure you feel supported in the role. This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of a grassroots organisation building the circular economy in Edinburgh.
