Organisation Description

Our mission is to help Petersfield and surrounding communities reduce their carbon emissions, protect nature and our countryside, for a greener, healthier community. We do this by running projects and activities with local people and organisations to raise awareness, build knowledge and help residents make informed decisions on changes to our buildings, transport, natural environment, understanding and behaviour we need to live sustainably. Our schools project has delivered over 100 assemblies and workshops on biodiversity, healthy seas, travel, waste and green careers to over 5,000 children in the past 2 years.

What are they looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer trustee to drive forward our education outreach work with children in local schools. Our aim is to provide students of all ages with knowledge, understanding, and skills to help them navigate the future with resilience, confidence and wisdom. We want to empower them to make planet-friendly choices themselves, and enable them to amplify their voices in explaining those choices to others. We have developed excellent relationships with schools, and would like to extend our programme to include support with developing policies and activities to embed sustainable thinking across staff and parent communities. Person profile: You are passionate about engaging with younger generations on the challenges presented by climate change and nature recovery, and you have experience of working in educational settings. There are a variety of activities available, including helping to deliver the sessions, develop new materials where necessary, and assist in management of bookings and communications as needed. Time commitment: School outreach commitments will require at least half a day per week of your time. The trustee board meets monthly for two hours to oversee projects and governance issues.
