Organisation Description

Escapeline is a charity committed to the prevention of the criminal and sexual exploitation of young people by criminal gangs across South West England, with a particular focus on Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. For years, thousands of children have been exploited through the practice of County lines, in which highly organised urban gangs take over provincial drugs markets. County Line gangs are increasing their operations to recruit local youngsters from small towns rather than the big cities and South West England has been particularly targeted. either online or offline, and manipulate them into becoming involved in drug dealing. The “line” refers to a mobile phone that is used to control the young person who is delivering drugs. Young people age 11 or 12 during the first year in secondary school are most likely to be targeted, but our youngest we are currently supporting is 6-years old.

What are they looking for?

Our current treasurer has had to step down, due to a new work commitment and she doesn't have the time she used to have to be our treasurer. The charity is growing very quickly due to the demand and success of our work and we are looking for a qualified accountant to be our treasurer who is able to oversee and monitor our accounts and grants and support our finance assistant who is employed 10hrs a week. We are looking for someone who is able to give 6-8 hours a week of their time and attend quarterly trustee meetings.
We are a unique charity providing necessary support to children between the ages of 6-18 years. These children are being seriously harmed and exploited by these criminal drug gangs. This is a big task for us, as there are currently over 6600 county line drug gangs in England and Wales. You will be supporting a valuable charity that is saving lives of children and helping them have a better future.
