Derbyshire Toy Libraries Request

Organisation Description
Established in 2000, Derbyshire Toy Libraries supports children’s education and development through the extension of play opportunities. We run a timetable of weekly 90 minute Stay & Play session suitable from birth to 5 years old, giving children the opportunity to play and parents/carers the chance to make friends. We provide a place for parents/carers to meet, offer support for parenting and we encourage parental involvement in play. We relieve the financial hardship of families through the provision of affordable and subsidised play activities and resources. We also deliver a low cost Click & Collect toy and resources hire service. Beyond this, we act as a hub within the local community, provide opportunities for volunteering and learning new skills and we reduce the number of toys that end up in landfill by encouraging multiple re-use.
What are they looking for?
Derbyshire Toy Libraries are seeking new trustees (including a Secretary) to join our committee. This is an open call for trustees and we welcome expressions of interest regardless of prior experience. Most importantly, we are looking for people with vision, 'can-do' attitude, and enthusiasm to support and champion us in our work. Our trustees are responsible for the governance of the charity and working closely with our founder to drive developments that will increase our impact on our community. For the Secretary role specifically, we are looking for an individual with strong administrative and organisation skills. The role of trustee is voluntary and you will be expected to attend 4 Board meetings per year (typically held in the evenings in Belper, although meetings may be held virtually where agreed by the Chair). The full role description is available on request.
