Compost London Request

Compost London Request

Organisation Description

Compost London came about around a shared concern about the diminishing infrastructure support for the Voluntary, Faith and Community Sector, across London. As the most diverse and deprived borough in London, Newham has a diverse and growing voluntary sector that is responding to a myriad of public needs, supporting everyone from “Men in Sheds”, a small voluntary organisation through to crime reduction and supporting migrants and refugees with the charity Newham Community Project, with £300k turnover. We wish to see a successful thriving sector.

What are they looking for?

They are seeking a trustee with expertise in areas such as finance, marketing, legal, HR, or community engagement. They are looking for someone with a genuine passion for community capacity building and support; someone with the ability to work effectively within a team, bringing diverse perspectives and fostering a positive, inclusive culture. You’ll need to be able to commit, on average, about a day a month to do the following: •Coming to meetings (currently six weekly and alternating in person in east London and virtual). • Leading on specific areas (e.g.: finance, safeguarding). • Preparing for meetings (mainly reading and occasional preparing of documents). • Coming to board awaydays, attending ad hoc events. In addition to your voluntary role as director/trustee, Compost London undertakes pieces of paid-for work. Directors with relevant skills, experience and capacity can join the freelance team that delivers this work on a paid basis. If you are passionate about enabling voluntary and community organisations to thrive and connect, then this is the role for you.
