Chisenhale Dance Space Request (Applicant)

Organisation Description

Chisenhale Dance Space (CDS) has championed experimental dance and performance for over 40 years, supporting marginalised artists from Tower Hamlets, London, and the UK. Rooted in inclusivity, CDS prioritises Global Majority and disabled/neurodivergent artists, offering an artist-led framework for development. Core activities include fostering community connections, providing affordable studio spaces, and supporting innovative projects. CDS also advocates for systemic change, promoting anti-racist and anti-ableist practices to empower artists and drive sectoral transformation. Committed to accessibility, collaboration, and equity, CDS serves as a vital hub for experimentation and growth in the dance and performance arts.

What are they looking for?

Chisenhale Dance Space (CDS) has been making space for artists to lead, experiment and create for over 40 years. CDS is a registered charity and after an exciting few years, including launching our newly imagined CDS Artist Community, we’re now looking for new trustees to join us to support us on the next steps of our journey:

Co-Chair of the Board – A vital role within the organisation and someone who will play a key part in shaping our future alongside our staff team, artist committee and artist community.

Treasurer – Someone who’ll help us keep an eye on the bottom line

Property Expert - Someone who can help us in our ambition to acquire a new studio space

Charity Law - someone to help guide us through an internal process and eventual structural governance change to make us more 'artist-led'

Any other individuals who are excited by our vision and mission and want to offer their skills and expertise.

It’s an exciting time of change and possibility and we’re looking for new trustees who can join in this journey of exploration, lean into uncertainty, and help shape a new way of working together.
