Organisation Description

OUR VISION

A vibrant and inclusive Lambeth, where all members of the community have the confidence and skills necessary to navigate the challenges and difficulties that may appear in their lives.

OUR MISSION

We empower local people to address the inequalities they experience and to achieve their economic, educational and social potential.

We do this by acting as a force for good through our own range of services, by lobbying for change, and by working collaboratively with socially responsible partners to improve our local community together.

What are they looking for?

Being a Trustee involves monthly meetings. These are usually in person and on the last Wednesday of the month from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. We usually hold them at 198 Contemporary Arts on Railton Road SE24

Trustees should be actively involved, attending meetings regularly and being well prepared for them. They should be able to follow the details of policies, procedures and financial issues, and ask questions about them. Critical thinking and discussion skills are key.

Meeting monthly helps us be more cohesive and by addressing issues regularly we find it things get done most effectively. Trustees can also take on at least one individual, more specialist, board responsibility.

We would like applicants to be available for a minimum of 18 months. We also welcome those who are looking for long term Trustee roles.

You must live or work in the Borough of Lambeth.

You do not need to have been a Trustee before. We offer induction, training on governance, and a supportive Board member to answer questions and hear what you have to say. This makes sure both experienced and first time Trustees feel welcome.
We have been an equal opportunities organisation since our start nearly 60 years ago.
