Action Village India Request (Applicant)

Organisation Description

Action Village India (AVI) is a UK-based organisation supporting Indian grassroots partners since 1988. Together, we work in remote rural areas to build a just, inclusive India where all, regardless of caste, gender, or religion, can escape poverty. By prioritising local needs, our long-term partnerships tackle issues like rights and social justice across diverse regions, from Bihar to Tamil Nadu. Solidarity drives our work, fostering mutual respect and transparency. By minimising UK costs, we maximise resources for impactful collaboration, with trustees and staff engaging actively with partners to sustain shared learning and support community-led priorities.

What are they looking for?

Action Village India (AVI) is seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and provide crucial oversight of our financial integrity. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial management, accounting, or charity finance, and a strong commitment to our mission of supporting marginalised communities in rural India. This pro-bono role involves approximately 5-6 hours per month, with meetings held virtually, ensuring flexibility. Key responsibilities include presenting budgets, monitoring financial systems, guiding the Board on financial matters and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Treasurer will also oversee financial risk management, liaise with the Independent Examiner, and provide clear financial guidance to non-financial experts on the Board. We are looking for someone who can actively collaborate with our Executive Director and Trustees, supporting strategic planning and resource allocation to achieve AVI’s mission. While most engagements are virtual, occasional in-person meetings or events may arise. This role is pivotal in sustaining AVI’s impact and fostering trust among stakeholders. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q-6qkpfwtHmLYdsf9Oibg0vo5AcC4FDD/view?usp=sharing https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4098053902/
