#MatchOfTheWeek: Matt Penney and Trampoline
November 27, 2019
Trampoline is a social enterprise that supports local entrepreneurs in disadvantaged communities as they build new businesses and expand their existing ventures. Trampoline draws upon years of experience in business coaching, leadership training and business skills development to unlock growth. Its entrepreneurs work in social care, hospitality, construction, media, art and fashion. The Fore funded Trampoline in 2018 to develop an e-learning platform for business skills development, to help them increase financial sustainability and extend the organisation’s reach.
In December 2018, Trampoline also came to The Fore seeking support with its communications and marketing needs. A member of The Fore’s network introduced Trampoline to Matt Penney, an expert working in an international communications firm.
Matt helped Trampoline as it set up a new website platform. Migrating to a new website was not only essential for developing the e-learning platform, but also for communicating the organisation’s mission, vision and direction more effectively to various stakeholders.
Matt helped Trampoline improve the design and develop a clear message for the new site and crucially, helped it refine its messaging for reaching important groups (including grant funders, corporate sponsors and partners such as housing associations and developers, community foundations and local authorities).
Trampoline’s Executive Director, Claudine Bongo, reports that now, whenever Trampoline meets with potential sponsors or funders, they always comment on how clear its website is. Trampoline has found that potential partners come to meetings with a far better understanding of the organisation’s work, making discussions far easier and more rewarding. In the last year, Trampoline has approximately doubled its income (mainly through contracts), and Claudine, cites the new website as absolutely integral to this growth.
