It’s A Match: Sound Waves Foundation
December 9, 2025
How business acumen fuels catalytic growth for small charities…
The Founders of Sound Waves Foundation, Nicola Wyatt MBA and Silvie Koanda, champion ‘deaf-ability’ by getting live captioning in classrooms so young people can flourish. The duo have the operational expertise to run the organisation, but in order to scale, they needed a clear path for income diversification.
Through our Pro Bono Network, we connected them with Andrea Valente, an investment products strategy and analytics professional at BlackRock. He applied his commercial know-how to conduct targeted prospect research, essentially building a foundation for Sound Waves’ future earned income.
This input sparked a chain reaction:
➡️ Sound Waves secured further expert pro-bono support from specialist marketing and PR agencies.
➡️ They are now in active discussions with large companies for sponsorship of their innovative British Sign Language memory game.
Andrea Valente: “I learned a lot, felt genuinely useful… I’d absolutely recommend skilled volunteering to anyone looking to give back in a way that makes a difference.”
Nicola and Silvie: “To run charities like ours, having someone like Andrea offer specific sector knowledge is priceless. It propels our charity to go much further forward, in a shorter period of time.”
