West Suffolk Hive
Description
West Suffolk Hive (WSH) is a nature-based play site where people can connect with nature, boost their wellbeing, and help protect the environment.
Founded in 2019 by parents of children with additional needs who were frustrated by the lack of suitable spaces in Suffolk for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), WSH has become a lifeline for families. Every month, they provide workshops, clubs, and play sessions for 200 people. Their forest, meadow and pond inspire a love of nature while teaching young people conservation skills to play their part in tackling the UK’s biodiversity crisis.
With The Fore’s funding, WSH will build a second cabin to double the people they support. The space will also generate income from external events, enabling further expansion.
