Description

Homestart Havering (HH) provides a universal support service to vulnerable families in Havering. HH provides this service through locally trained parent volunteers which HH carefully match to families. As lockdown restrictions lift, HH is seeing an increase in referrals for multiple and more complex needs, e.g., fleeing domestic abuse, children on Child Protection Plans and increased levels of homelessness. As well, HH is meeting basic needs (e.g. bedding and food) and providing support through guidance and counselling. HH is using the grant of £15,000 from The Fore to employ a p.t caseworker to meet increased demand for services, grow the volunteer base, and create capacity for senior management to focus on fundraising.
