Independent Arts

Description

Independent Arts is a small charity on the Isle of Wight established in 1987. It works with older people to tackle commonly faced issues such as: dementia, social isolation, disability and disadvantage, using the arts as a daily tool to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. The Isle of Wight has one of the highest populations of over 65s in the country and recently published figures show it also has the highest number of dementia sufferers in the UK. Independent Arts is the only charity of its kind working on the island and has grown significantly in the last 25 years. The Fore funded the development of its InTouch project, which researches and develops the use of iPad technology with dementia sufferers.
