BLACK THERAPY MATTERS CIC
Description
Black Therapy Matters CIC (BTM) is a social activist start-up whose mission is to address the shortage of registered BME counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. Despite making up 12% of the UK population, BME people represent only 5% of therapists, and BME students are considerably less likely to complete their training than their white peers due to a lack of support. BTM was founded by two psychotherapy students determined to solve this problem by offering support to BME trainee therapists and helping them to complete their studies. BTM is using funding from The Fore to enable the founders to commit significantly more time to the organisation – expanding its work, becoming more sustainable, and supporting more students.
