DoorStep Library
Description
Doorstep Library Network provides a home-based reading service to children living on housing estates with a high level of deprivation. The charity aims to instil a love of reading in children (up to 11 years old) who are at risk of underachievement at school. Specially trained enthusiastic Home-Reading Volunteers working in pairs, pay families weekly home-visits during term times to read with children, each armed with a rucksack full of specifically selected children?s books. The Fore collaborated with the CriSeren Foundation to fund the development of a business plan and funding strategy with the aim of developing a ?six-library hub model? to extend its reach beyond the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
