Mentorship with Stitches in time / FabricWorks

Backed by The Fore

Organisation Description

At Stitches in Time, we combine creative, skills-based training with mentoring and wellbeing support, providing women with the tools to thrive on their own terms. And over the past decade, our social enterprise, FabricWorks, has filled critical gaps in provision by creating pathways to further training, fair wage employment, and career development. We connect with women in Tower Hamlets using crafts and sewing as a non-confrontational way to build trust, access support, and regain confidence. While many women face cultural, societal, and financial barriers to the arts, we ensure craft remains an accessible tool for emotional resilience and economic empowerment. Through community-led projects and structured training, we provide a supportive environment where women can explore their creativity while developing the skills needed for future opportunities.

What are they looking for?

Over the past year, we have undertaken a focused period of research and development – reviewing our cost structures, refining our services, and exploring sustainable routes for growth. Alongside production, we are increasingly focused on delivering sewing, mending, and upcycling workshops, working with corporate partners and brands, and collaborating on events that centre craft, sustainability, and social impact.

As we grow this area of work, we would benefit from targeted support in the following areas:
Business development & visibility
* Strengthening our outreach and partnerships with corporate clients and brands
* Increasing visibility and positioning within relevant networks
* Developing and delivering events and collaborative opportunities
Legal & operational support
* Developing clear, robust contracts and agreements with clients and partners
* Guidance on managing risk as we expand our commercial activity
Financial systems & sustainability
* Strengthening our financial tracking and reporting across our accounting systems
* Improving how we monitor

We would be grateful for support in any of these areas – whether through one-off sessions or more consistent input (for example, monthly support over a set period). We’re flexible and open to shaping this around the availability and expertise of those able to support us, with the aim of building a more resilient and sustainable enterprise.
