Short-Term Project with Embracing Arts

Backed by The Fore

Organisation Description

Embracing Arts is a theatre company dedicated to creating work for young people with special educational needs and/or life limiting conditions. Our interactive, multi-sensory shows, parties and workshops are tailored to the unique needs of each audience and use storytelling, song, music and puppetry to entertain, engage and educate.

What are they looking for?

Embracing Arts is seeking a qualified accountant to act as their Independent Examiner for their annual accounts.

As our income has recently exceeded £250,000, we are required to appoint an Independent Examiner who is a member of one of the professional bodies listed in the Charities Act 2011.

The Independent Examiner will review our annual accounts and underlying financial records to confirm that the accounts are consistent with the charity’s financial records and comply with Charity Commission requirements. The examiner will then provide the Independent Examiner’s report required for our annual filing.

Key details:
– Accounts prepared using QuickBooks
– Accounts compiled into the CC17a format (Excel) for Charity Commission submission
– Accounts typically ready for examination in September each year
– Estimated 1–2 days total time, including any follow-up questions

Skills and experience:
– Member of a recognised professional accountancy body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAS, AAT)
– Experience reviewing financial records or charity accounts is helpful

This is a formal governance role, and the Independent Examiner must be independent from Embracing Art’s trustees and financial management.
