Ongoing Role with The Breathe Well Initiative
Applicant endorsed by The Fore
Organisation Description
The Breathe Well Initiative is a UK-registered charity that works to improve chronic respiratory health. Our clinic is based in the Southern Region of Sierra Leone, where access to respiratory care and health information is limited. We support individuals and communities affected by asthma, COPD, allergies and other breathing conditions. Our work focuses on early diagnosis of asthma and COPD, prevention, education and ongoing support, helping people recognise symptoms early and get the right care. We also provide smoking cessation support, offering advice and practical help to people who want to stop smoking and protect their lung health. Alongside this, we raise awareness about air quality, clean air practices and healthy environments. We work closely with international and local communities, healthcare workers and partner organisations to improve access to respiratory care. In 2024, we successfully ran a pilot respiratory clinic, reaching local patients and testing our care model. In 2025, we laid the foundation for our permanent clinic building, marking a major step forward in expanding long-term respiratory services in the region. The Breathe Well Initiative is committed to supporting those most affected by breathing difficulties as result of poor air quality and biomass fuels, and long-term lung conditions, with the aim of improving quality of life and respiratory wellbeing.
What are they looking for?
We are seeking pro bono support with strategic business planning to help strengthen our organisation and support long-term sustainability.
As a charity providing respiratory health services in the Southern Region of Sierra Leone, we would benefit from working with someone who has experience of developing and scaling health or community-based services, particularly in low-resource settings. We are looking for support to review our current model, clarify our long-term vision, and develop a clear, realistic business and sustainability plan.
This support would help us plan for sustainable funding, effective partnerships, and the long-term operation of our clinic and programmes, building on our pilot clinic in 2024 and the foundation of our permanent clinic building in 2025.
