Motivez

Description

Motivez support marginalised young people to access great jobs in STEM.

Only 6% of engineers in the UK are from ethnic minority backgrounds (compared to 13% of the population) and women make up just 16.5% of the STEM workforce. At the same time, the UK faces a STEM workforce shortage of close to half a million, which is expected to get worse over the next decade. Motivez are addressing this imbalance by creating pathways that equip underrepresented young people with the skills, networks, and confidence to succeed in STEM careers. They’ve directly supported over 13,500 young people. There’s significant potential to expand operations and develop partnerships, but a lack of capacity in the leadership team is holding them back.

Their grant from The Fore in 2021 helped increase their revenue ten-fold and expand to a national presence. With The Fore’s scale-up grant, they plan to expand the team, unlocking 280 days of senior leadership capacity over the next two years. This will allow them to secure 10+ new partnerships, strengthening their revenue streams to triple the young people they work with.

Our Scale Up funding programme supports organisations that have been previously backed by The Fore. Organisations are invited to participate based on the priorities of our funders. Because of this, we kindly request that you don’t contact us about participating in this programme. For more information on our regular funding rounds, please visit the Apply for funding drop down menu on our website.
