Regal Tenbury Trust Request

Organisation Description

For 87 years, the Regal has been providing access to the arts at the centre of the community in and around Tenbury Wells. We are a rural area with limited options for many to experience the arts. The Regal is a critical part of the community operating from a listed Art-Deco building with our 260 seat theatre and 50 seat studio providing a hub for live events, theatre, cinema and community activity.
The Regal offers a programme intended to deliver something for everyone across our community. The 2024 programme features 49 films and broadcasts. We hold popular live music events covering all musical tastes showcasing local musicians wherever we can. We host touring theatre productions and produce an annual professional Christmas panto.
We also support the Regal Community Theatre and Regal School of Creative Arts for (5-18 years), the Regal Community Choir (open to all) and Regal Dance (6-14 years).

What are they looking for?

We are looking for a Chair to serve an initial three year term working with the Board of Trustees, the Theatre Manager and her team and our incredible volunteers to deliver on the Regal’s exciting and ambitious Mission and Vision.

wellbeing.
● Is able to balance the commercial aspects of running a mixed-use arts venue with the
artistic and creative aspects.
● Sets clear strategic direction and creates a culture of empowerment, accountability and
achievement.
● Builds strong relationships with many stakeholders.
● Can operate with a small, dedicated staff and places high value on the contributions of
volunteers.
● Understands the importance of good governance and compliance in the charity sector.
● Can develop a board with the breadth and depth of skills needed to achieve the Regal’s
ambitions.

Our new chair will be able to commit sufficient time to achieving the Regal’s mission and vision including formal meeting and regular engagement with the Regal staff and volunteers. A regular presence at the Regal is essential.
