What are they looking for?

Home-Start North Wiltshire is a cherished Wiltshire charity that provides emotional and practical support to families with young children across our community. We are currently seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees—a vital leadership role that will help shape the future of our work.

The Chairperson plays a central role in guiding our strategy and ensuring good governance.
Like many charities across the UK, we are facing a decline in volunteer engagement at a board level. Many talented individuals are hesitant to step into trustee or Chair roles due to perceived barriers such as time commitment, lack of experience, or uncertainty about responsibilities. We want to reassure potential candidates that becoming Chair is both manageable and deeply rewarding.

The role typically requires around 8–10 hours per month, and you’ll be supported by a dedicated and experienced team of trustees and staff. You don’t need to be an expert in governance or charity law – just someone with leadership skills, a passion for community, and a desire to make a difference.

We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of parenting and the challenges of family life, and from diverse backgrounds that reflect the communities we serve.
