The Pachamama Project CIO Request
Organisation Description
The Pachamama Project is an organisation growing a network of volunteers around the world to make reusable sanitary pads for refugees and vulnerable people who experience period poverty. Since forming in 2020 we have galvanised over 2,500 volunteers, collectively made over 120,000 pads and supported over 16,000 women, girls and people who menstruate out of period poverty worldwide. We aim to restore dignity, keep girls in education and women in work.
The Pachamama Project was set up by then 20 year old student Ella who having experienced debilitating period pain growing up knew what it was like to miss education and opportunities because of her period. The charity is founded on the principle that no girl should miss out on the same opportunities as her brothers simply because she has a period.
We have distributed in 13 countries so far, predominantly in Lebanon, Uganda, Pakistan, Ukraine, USA and the UK.
