Saltash Gateway CIC t/a Community Enterprises PL12 Request
Organisation Description
Originally established to compliment the work of the Town Council and Chamber of Commerce with much needed local projects, Community Enterprises has successfully entwined this with our ethos of supporting those in need by reasons of age, ill health, disability and financial hardship, including families living with cognitive impairment and social isolation.
We currently provide volunteering opportunities for over 130 people of all ages and backgrounds, running varied activities in our community venues where charity groups and the social prescriber operate from, plus a selling space for local artisans. We also offer Duke of Edinburgh placements for local youngsters.
What are they looking for?
We need help to stimulate creative, imaginative income generation from our existing and any future enterprises and we need both financial and business strategy input to improve our ability to survive the current hiatus and to prepare for the new activity. We would welcome a visit to understand our Enterprises and fully inform the requirements, but equally we can operate by telephone or Teams to do this remotely if needed.
Resulting from changes in Directors and Enterprises, there is an immediate short-term need to cover Community Kitchen costs against a reduced turnover. Looking ahead, we have identified wider opportunities to benefit our community and bring stability to our company, including extending our mobile larder and meeting adult education and training opportunities, (initially food and hospitality related). We are initiating conversations with the Town and County Councils to meet the need for a Community Health Hub in Saltash. Our existing premises model works well, providing Company income alongside community services, so we are keen to replicate it for the identified projects, providing premises to run from and being involved administratively. We would welcome Strategy and Business Planning support to prioritise and achieve these projects as quickly and effectively as possible.
Timeframe:If we cannot quickly improve our financial and business strategy to survive the current hiatus and to prepare for the new activity, there is a genuine risk that we will not get these projects started before our financial position is so compromised that we have to close our Community Kitchen.
