Skylight Circus Arts has been delivering inclusive, life-changing participation projects since 1990. Based in one of the 5% of the UK’s most deprived areas, deeply rooted in our community, breaking down barriers to successfully engage those who would otherwise be unlikely to benefit from cultural provision. . Circus is a powerful tool for social change. It teaches valuable life skills such as autonomy, communication, adaptability and self-esteem. As a visual and accessible art form, it creates inclusive, family friendly experiences. We offer something truly unique: circus as a tool for wellbeing, inclusion, and personal growth. Participants of all abilities can thrive. Whether it’s supporting families through referrals, partnering with schools, or training teachers to use circus in the classroom, we fill gaps. Weekly inclusive classes, aerial workshops, school programmes and performances, our sessions inspire pride, teamwork and joy. We know circus works because of real, lasting impact.

What are they looking for?

There are a number of gaps in our organisations skills that we are looking for help with and to boost or even provide mentoring for The Creative Director. As a small organisation the staff and Board of trustees have we have a wide range of skills but we really require some expertise in finance and strategy perhaps with accountancy .This could involve business planning or linked to fundraising strategy. We also recognise the importance of marketing which will link to our finance, ideas that might shape a future bid. We are also keen to expand our Boards skills of finance and HR. We can happily work virtually but especially love to work in person. An ideal candidate would be interested in how we as a small community organisation work and nurture our skills. Our experience has shown us that some people who get involved stay involved and whilst we are looking for help in the now we are also really happy to explore future development and possibly to add to our Board if there was interest, finance and HR would be a big bonus.
