SUMMARY:Reporting and Reviewing Impact: What Good Looks Like workshop with NPC
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for small- and medium-sizes charities who want to learn about reporting on their impact. The workshop will be given by an expert from NPC\, the think tank and consultancy for the social sector. No preparation is necessary.

SUMMARY:Five Types of Data for Impact Measurement workshop with NPC
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for charities who want effectively evaluate and measure their impact\, but struggle with getting the right data. This introductory workshop is particularly geared towards small and medium-sized charities. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will start with discussing why charities should measure their impact\, followed by a brief summary of good impact practice. We will then focus the majority of the time on how to design your impact measurement and data collection in such a way that it will help you understand how your programme or service is working and how you can make it better. We will draw on NPC’s five types of data framework\, which are fundamental for monitoring and evaluating services or programmes. The five types of data progress from routine data that you should always be collecting (user\, engagement and feedback data)\, through to data that you will only collect occasionally (outcomes and impact data). We will discuss the importance of each type of data\, the type of questions to ask\, as well as possible appropriate measures to obtain the different types of data. The workshop will end with some practical tips on how to keep your data collection proportionate\, and some tools and tech that can help boost your efficiency. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will be interactive\, so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask your questions. The workshop will be given by an expert from NPC\, the think tank and consultancy for the social sector. No preparation is necessary.

SUMMARY:Financial Resilience - How to Navigate Financial Uncertainty workshop with Embrace Finance
DESCRIPTION:Financial resilience is the ability to murmurate like starlings. In this session\, we explore what it means to be a financially resilient organisation\, how it is something that we do as much as it is something that we are\, how it is often about saying no rather than saying yes\, doing less rather than doing more and how it is not the same as financial sustainability. SUMMARY:NPC Survey Design
DESCRIPTION:Most charities use surveys in one way or another\, but with varying levels of success. There’s already lots of guidance available\, but little that directly addresses the challenges faced by charities. For example: \n\n\n\n\nWhat are the most cost-effective ways to run high quality surveys?\n\n\n\nHow do we get beneficiaries to take part?\n\n\n\nHow do we get the most accurate answers from survey respondents?\n\n\n\n\nThis session is for people with a little or no experience in running surveys\, and will cover both survey methodologies and tips on questionnaire design.

SUMMARY:Succession Planning for Nonprofits workshop with B&G
DESCRIPTION:This new online workshop focuses on best practice in nonprofit succession planning. A scary statistic from US charity research indicates that the average time a new CEO of a nonprofit lasts after taking over from its founder or a previous long-term leader is 18 months. The reasons for this can be complex\, but planning for the succession in your leadership is a key moment of risk – but also of opportunity – for nonprofit organisations. Getting it right is the responsibility of both the existing leadership and your board of trustees – but it is a key management and governance challenge for which there is often no plan until the last minute. As a result\, bigger challenges can arise. \n\n\n\nThe session is for nonprofits leaders provides an opportunity to share your perspectives and learn from others and a space to start thinking about how to make a proper plan for a smooth succession in your organisation. Based partly on our own experience where it has gone right (and sometimes gone wrong) and best practice and useful tips from others\, it will explore the ways to get your succession planning right and the common pitfalls to avoid. \n\n\n\nYou will learn \n\n\n\n* an ideal timeline for putting in place a succession plan \n\n\n\n* what the key decisions need to be taken to shape a plan \n\n\n\n* who needs to be involved in it and how to take these decisions \n\n\n\n* how to preserve the core of the organisation whilst opening it up to the potential of change with new leadership \n\n\n\n* how to ensure a smooth handover period \n\n\n\nWe will provide some useful resources that will help you to think through and shape your succession plan. \n\n\n\n“This was one of the best workshops I have been on. It really opened my eyes to what the board (and not just me) need to do to get this right. It gave me the permission to have discussions about how we take a lead on this together. I have also suggested that the Chair of our Board attends a future workshop.” \n\n\n\nCharity Founder & CEO on Succession Planning for Nonprofits Pilot Workshop in Summer 2023

SUMMARY:Cashflow Forecasting: Keeping The Lights On with Embrace Finance
DESCRIPTION:Cash keeps the lights on. It’s as simple as that. Cashflow problems are more common than we might think. Often\, we can budget to breakeven\, or turn a surplus\, and still encounter cashflow problems. It’s important to understand when challenges may be temporary and when they may be a sign of something more serious. In this session we revisit how to prepare a simple cashflow forecast to make sure cash balances stay positive and we revisit the Charity Commission guidance on managing financial difficulties. This session includes a practical breakout activity to apply learning and share insights with peers. \n\n\n\nWe will look at: \n\n\n\n\nWhy and how to do cashflow forecasting\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we can do when our forecasts look gloomy\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we have to do when the problems look serious\n\n\n\n\n\nTop tips and common elephant traps
